| Agri-Starts IV is part of the Agri-Starts group of plant tissue culture laboratories, founded by Gerri Abner and Randy Strode in 1984. Initially, Agri-Starts, Inc. began producing Alocasia, Spathiphyllum, Syngonium, and a few other types of tropical foliage plants for wholesale growers. As the need to produce additional varieties grew, the two Partners decided there was an opportunity to start more companies.
Agri-Starts II was incorporated in 1989 to produce Dieffenbachia, Ficus, Ferns, Philodendron, Aquatics, and Canna, among others. It was recently sold to Agri-Starts III and they continue to add varieties to their product offerings from their facility in Apopka, Florida.
In 1993, Agri-Starts III, with Mike Rinck at the helm, was founded to produce herbaceous perennials, carniverous plants, and a few other tropical foliage varieties. This lab is located in Eustis, Florida. They recently purchased Agri-Starts II and created a new company called AG3. From this new company they are able to provide all the products from both of the previous companies.
Agri-Starts IV began production in 1994. We produce many different blooming tropical perennials such as Gingers and Heliconias, as well as Orchids, Anthuriums, Bromeliads, and other decorative tropical plants. David McDonald and his staff are located in Mt. Dora, Florida.
