Ginger’ is an herbaceous tropical perennial that produces multiple stems that
grow to a maximum height of 7 feet. ‘Beehive
Ginger’ produces yellow cones with brown and yellow spotted flowers. The resulting combination looks like bees in
a hive, giving the plant its’ name. Naturally goes dormant in winter.
Habit and Growth Rate:
This
plant is well suited to medium shade to full sun landscapes in warm climates.
It also works well as a tropical foliage plant or patio plant.

Best
suited for a 10” pot size and will finish in about 4 months.

Soil
/ Watering:
Use a well draining professional mix that is
slightly acidic, keep evenly moist. During dormancy, keep rhizomes dry and free
from freezing.
Fertilizer: Liquid feed with complete fertilizer at 200-250 ppm
(N), weekly. Supplement with magnesium sulfate at 1/4 pound per 100 gallons
once per month. For top dress or soil incorporation, follow label rates.
Pest/Disease Problems:
Employ good sanitation practices to avoid fungal and
bacterial pathogens. A preventative drench with a soil fungicide such as Banrot
will help to prevent root rot.
