Ornamental Features:

‘Ruby’ has brilliant ruby red foliage mixed with dark burgundy.  It has a compact habit with broad leaves.

 

Applications:

‘Ruby’ is an excellent landscape plant for warm climates to provide a tropical look.  It can also be used as a patio pot plant or to provide a splash of color in mixed containers.

 

Pot Size and Finish Time:

Best suited for a 10” pot size and will finish in 5 to 6 months. Plant three plants per pot.

 

Culture:

Light:  50% to 65% shade or 3,500 to 5,000 foot candles

Temperature:  65° - 90° F

Soil / Watering:  Use a well draining professional mix, keep evenly moist.

Fertilizer:  Liquid feed with complete fertilizer at 200-250 ppm (N), weekly. Supplement with magnesium sulfate at 1/4 pound per 100 gallons once per month. For top dress or soil incorporation, follow label rates for medium to heavy feeders.

 

Pest/Disease Problems:

Preventative spray for insect pests. Employ good sanitation practices to avoid fungal & bacterial pathogens, preventive drench to control root rot.
